"why do they intend to get married in church with wedding gowns and tuxedos"? Welcome to the world of mass tv commercials and other forms of advertising to create a "peer pressure" attitude among the younger generations as the proper thing to do. With a population of 1.4(?), billion the marketing opportunities abounds for companies like DeBeers(the diamond producer) and others. Are you getting a natural diamond or "man made"? What or how God has to do with all of this is a good question and makes for interesting discussions.

Gary, you are right. The young generation has influenced deeply by mass TV commercials and other kinds advertisements. They follow the trend blindly. In their opinion, it is very romantic to get married in a magnificent church even though they don't believe in Christianity. Very sad for them.

Lion, how is your trip to Chongqing? Hope it was fine. Match making festivals are now very popular since there are more and more young "left" people who want to get married soon. BTW, I remember that you have posted several threads about match making.

I can't figure out any other reasons for two people to get married except for love. Breeding, money and sex? If you want to take these things from marriage, you don't need to get married, you can get them through other means.( Perhaps, it is shady means). For me, love is the only justifiable thing for two people to stick closely to each other.

BTW, "what do you marry for?" this question itself is equivocal. Why do we have to care too much for what we can get from a relation. IMO, we should care more about what (how much) we can give rather than what (how much) we can take from marriage.

Leonardo, why is it equivocal? Do you try to tell us we should get married blindly or without any consideration?

You have said that "I can't figure out any other reasons for two people to get married except for love." Can I infer from your words that you will get married for love? If so, BBQQ's question "what do you marry for?" is not equivocal.
