![]() | Before saying “I do” in front of the priest, do you have a correct answer for this question---why do I get married? Many people don’t think about this question seriously before walking into their marriage. The direct result is that they feel regretful or divorce later. My friends, did you think about this question seriously before getting married? Here are ten reasons for getting married. Please check out your reasons for marriage. No.1 Because you are in love. As the lyric of a song writes, we love just because of love. Although love shouldn’t be the only reason, it is an ingredient in the most successful marriages. No.2 Because you are moved deeply. Did you read Those Most to Be Loved written by Wei Wei? This article has great influence over Chinese people. In 1950s and 1960s, many females took soldiers as their ideal husband because they were moved by their great deeds. No.3 Because of gratitude. Some get married just for returning her gratitude to somebody. Did you read the Legend of White Snake? Bai Suzhen, a white snake married Xu Xian because he saved her life. No.4 Because of sympathy. A boy who digs coal in the mine got married with a woman who just made her living by selling beverages and breakfast in the coal mine because he was sympathetic with her. That woman’s husband died in a coal accident and left two children. He often helped that pathetic woman and finally got married with her. No.5 Just for sex. No.6 For having babies. For most traditional women, it is their dream to marry a good man, establish a happy family and have a healthy baby. No.7 For living. For those who leave their home and seek their dreams overseas, they finally realize that it is impossible to stay in their dreamland and then they will find a local and get married to get his/her green card. In this way, they can stay and live there. No.8 For revenge. Some boys or girls choose to marry their ex BF’s brother or GF’s sister to revenge their ex BF or ex GF. It is very silly! No.9 For some special purposes. Some young women choose to marry foreigners to realize their purpose of going overseas. Some choose to marry old men just for their property. It is no surprise today. No.10 For some special commitment. Did you know Princess Wencheng and Wang Zhaojun? They got married just for the stability and unity of her country. |

![]() | "Don't think many Chinese say "I do" in China when they marry. They bow to the heaven/earth, parents & each other." GUEST24066, you are right. Most Chinese don't believe in God. However, many girls are dreaming of having their wedding ceremony in the church. I can't understand it. Actually, the western style wedding ceremony has been introduced to China for a long time. The bride wear their beautiful wedding gowns and the groom wear their suits. Usually, the colour is white. They also exchange rings during the ceremony. In traditional Chinese wedding ceremony, the bride usually wear red gowns instead of white wedding dresses. |

![]() | Sorry, Lionpower. I should say it in another way: most Chinees don't believe in christianity. The god you referred to is God of money. In Chinese, he is called 财神. Now that they don't believe in christianity, why do they intend to get married in a church? This is my question. |

![]() | Many Chinese who can speak English say "God bless you" to others. They learned it from movies, speeches or other materials. Although they say it, they seldom realize it has something to do with religion. |
