>>Have you heard this sentence---Women are compared to vegetables? If not, please read the following words. <<

In the West, those would not be very flattering words.
Comparing a woman to a vegetable would be like calling her brain-dead!

Thanks, Canadaguy. But what kinds of flattering words the western women prefer? I am curious.

Well I'm certainly not an expert on this subject (tennis is more my specialty) but a good place to start would be Shakespeare. How about his famous eighteenth sonnet?

"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?"

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest;
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Well, thanks again, Canadayguy. Poetry is the hardest to understand let alone the sonnet written by Shakespears. I need time to digest this sonnet :-)

Yes you are absolutely correct about poetry and especially Shakespeare's prose.

I understand that as a second language English poses extra difficulties.

Please take the time to digest the sonnet. It is one of Shakespeare's most famous. It is rich with exquisite words and meaning.

Just one or two lines of the sonnet are pure genius. But the sonnet in its entirety is simply magic. It transcends time eternal.

Kevin I just wanted to make life a little easier for you and give you a rough translation of the sonnet from old English to something more modern. Of course the poem loses a lot of its charm when doing this 'translation' but at least you'll have a better understanding of what it's trying to say.

Shall I compare you to a day in summer?
You are more beautiful and less harsh:

In summer, there are strong winds that shake the flowers,
Summer is only with us for a short time:

Sometimes the sun is too hot for comfort,
And often there are cloudy days;

All beautiful things eventually lose their attractiveness,
By accident, or through the passing of time;

But your attractiveness will not be lost,
You won't lose the loveliness that you have;

Even death can't cast a shadow over your beauty,
Your beauty is recorded in print forever;

For as long as civilization survives
This poem will keep your memory alive.

Thank you very much, CANADAGUY. With the help of your translation, I basically understand this sonnet.

"All beautiful things eventually lose their attractiveness,
By accident, or through the passing of time;

But your attractiveness will not be lost,
You won't lose the loveliness that you have;

Even death can't cast a shadow over your beauty,
Your beauty is recorded in print forever;"

I am sure that every woman will be happy to hear this :-)
