I just came accross a piece of prose poem, very beautiful and touching. It is said that it was written by Tagore and was included in Stray Bird. However, my friend told me it was written by Zhang Xiaoxian, a Tainwanese writer. Later on, a guy translated it into English. Whom should I believe? Here is it. The furthest distance in the world 世界上最遥远的距离 Is not between life and death But when I stand in front of you 而是 我就站在你面前 Yet you don't know that I love you 你却不知道我爱你 The furthest distance in the world 世界上最遥远的距离 Is not when I stand in front of you 不是 我就站在你面前 Yet you can't see my love But when undoubtedly knowing the love from both 而是 明明知道彼此相爱 Yet cannot be together 却不能在一起 The furthest distance in the world 世界上最遥远的距离 Is not being apart while being in love But when painly cannot resist the yearning Yet pretending you have never been in my heart The furthest distance in the world 世界上最遥远的距离 Is not when painly cannot resist the yearning 不是 明明无法抵挡这股思念 yet pretending you have never been in my heart 却还得故意装作丝毫没有把你放在心里 but using one's indifferent heart 而是 用自己冷漠的心对爱你的人 To dig an uncrossable river For the one who loves you

Jimmy, thanks for sharing the touching poem! It's a pity that I read too few poems so that I can't help. I think it is high time that I should read more poems.

Thanks, Queen. I got the answer. Amy Cheung just wrote the first paragraph and some other guys just added their words to this. With those added words, this poem became touching. Actually, there are many versions. Of course, they were not written by Tagore. Here is another one. Some guys still think that this one was written by Tagore.

Here is another poem written by Aleksandr Pushkin. Hope you enjoy it. English version (got it from wiki source): I Loved You Once Aleksandr Pushkin, I loved you; even now I may confess, Some embers of my love their fire retain; But do not let it cause you more distress, I do not want to sadden you again. Hopeless and tonguetied, yet I loved you dearly With pangs the jealous and the timid know; So tenderly I loved you, so sincerely, I pray God grant another love you so.

Thanks for sharing the Pushkin Poem, Jimmy. Short, but captures the human condition so well!

Yes, Jimmyb. Short but very touching. So tenderly I loved you, so sincerely, I pray God grant another love you so. That guy is a good one. Even she didn't love him any more. He still hopes that another guy can replace him to love her like him. I am wondering if there is such a guy in today's world.

Reminds me of that 90’s song If I Let You Go by Westlife. Day after day Time passed away And I just can't get you off my mind Nobody knows, I hide it inside I keep on searching but I can't find The courage to show to letting you know I've never felt so much love before And once again I'm thinking about Taking the easy way out But if I let you go I will never know What life would be holding you close to me Will I ever see you smiling back at me? How will I know If I let you go? Night after night I hear myself say Why can't this feeling just fade away There's no one like you You speak to my heart It's such a shame we're worlds apart I'm too shy to ask, I'm too proud to lose But sooner or later I gotta choose And once again I'm thinking about Taking the easy way out. But if I let you go I will never know What life would be holding you close to me Will I ever see you smiling back at me? How will I know If I let you go?
