<<<A good bargainer?...No, the merchant can see the word "sucker" on my forehead.>>> Haha.. I have the same problem. =P <<<Am I cheap when I think that a resonable price should be maby 50?>>> No. Don't worry about the shopkeepers shouting at you--it's totally normal. If they won't give you the price, just walk away. They will run after you if they think the price is reasonable. If not, just remember that you can always buy the same stuff from another stall.

As a foreigner I don't have the heart to haggle much, the amounts are so small and I assume they are poorer than me. Anyway, I just want to get out as fast as I can - I can only manage about 30 minutes shopping (on a good day) before I become extremely bad tempered. So to spend 10 minutes arguing over 20 rmb is not a good trade off.

A totally different response. Roosen is disappointed that prices in China are not as low as he/she expected. FANTASTIC... it is a sign (I like to think) that the wages of the poor workers are increasing. Rich countries cannot expect to live off sweated foreign labour for ever.

A lot of these stall holders are on commission only. No sales = no meal. Please bare that in mind when having fun screwing them down. Does anybody on this forum work for commission only? I think not. Dodger.
