well, it reminds me of another short story; while an African friend 's stay in China, and his Chinese is rather good! but one day he saw a tip slogan: 小心地滑。he felt very excited and begin sliding himself, well, he was tumbled. so do u know why his reflection is in this way?? rather intersting. because of that we chinese say 地 both mean floor with a pronanciation of -di- and grammatical particle -de-, actually he chose the latter...:)
