The earthquake happened in Wenchuan in Sichuan Province has caused serious damages. Many people lost their lives and some people's houses were destroyed. What's more, it has also impacted China's economy. The shares in Shanghai stock market fell about 1.8 percent. Both China Life and Pacific Insurance dropped 7 percent at least. On the other hand, the economists say that the earthquake will make the inflation problem more serious and the prices will rise.

However, some predict that the impact of the earthquake on the economy might last too long. The economists of JPMorgan say that the impact of the earth quake on the economy will be much less that that of the snowstorm.

What are your comments? Can the earthquake "shake" China's economy?

Not likely, China has the 4th largest GDP in the world. Only a quake in a financial center like Beijing or Shanghai would have an effect.

I am concerned about the people who are in the disaster areas. Everytime I see the pictures, I just break down. Lost lives can never be replaced. I cannot imagine the pain of losing your only child. I don’t know how these people can face tomorrow after losing their loved ones but I am praying that they hold on and have more strength.

When I see the reports and pictures, I can't help crying. I contributed money to the disaster area, it's the only thing I can do. And I also wish everyone here could try your best to help them.

Maybe it is youth, perhaps a lack of human touch or a black humor.
Whatever that it is, I find it a little off, to talk about the effects on the economy, at a moment when many human souls are alive under the rubble, many more lost and dead, and many others alive that are mourning the dead, that is mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, old, young and children by the thousands.

I am with Marrie, Shesgottobe and Alicia on their opinion and censuring of Jimmy's concerns about the economy and the market.

I hope my opinion join to the one of the ladies, don't make you upset, but if it do I hope you can get over it.

I offer no apology.

I pray to God from Heavens to bring comfort and a speedy recovery to the people of China in these difficult days.
