According to the report from the Dailymail, British tourists are a real nightmare to the hoteliers. The allegation acctually is from a survey of European hotel chains by the travel company Expedia. As their survey says, Britons are regarded as "rude", "messy" and "loud". Meanwhile, they were also criticised for eating nearly as much as the Americans. But the hoteliers also like British tourists because they spend a lot of money, ranking the second after the US. On other hand, the Japanese, American and German tourists were the best behaved visitors. Janpanese visitors are the most polite and the German tourists are the tidiest in the world.

By the way, the Americans were voted the loudest on holiday, followed by the Italians and the British, with the Japanese and Germans being the quietest. The Americans were also voted the least polite, with the Japanese the most polite. The behaviour of French, Chinese, Mexican and Russian tourists was also sharply criticised, with hoteliers saying they were loud, obnoxious and unfriendly.

What do you think of Britons? Are theys the worst behaved tourists?!

I am embarrassed to admit it but when I see other Brits on holiday I cringe.
To me we seem to expect England to follow when we go on holiday. Everywhere should speak English, everywhere should serve English food, everything we get back home should be available in other countries.

Last year in Chengdu I passed a group of Brits in their football shirts and shorts shouting and swearing at anyone and everyone. I felt I should tell them that their behaviour is unacceptable and they were quite shocked at what I said.

I agree we should be top of the worst tourist list, but I am an exception to this. I am well behaved on holiday.

Dave, I've felt the same about my fellow Americans from time to time. "When we are good, we are very, very good; when we are bad, we are horrid."

Wow, what is wrong with British "Gentlemen"? Have the gentlemen lost the gentlemanly behavior when they are on vacations?

Gentleman are few and far between nowadays.

The current generation of people in UK would have no idea of how to act like ladies or gentlemen. It starts by having respect and that I am afraid has been taken out of our dictionaries.

I’ve now had time to workout what was wrong with this survey from a completely unbiased point of view as I am not British but English.
I just wish they would stop lumping us all together as one group. It certainly the Scotts and the Welsh that are lowering the tone.
I would also like to point out that if the Germans and the Japanese are now rated as the best tourists it’s about time. The last time this lot traveled in large groups they made English football fans look like The Mormon tabernacle choir.

What do you mean English Dodger? You know that the politically correct brigade dont allow people like me and you to be English, we are British/European/whatever they tell us we are. After all if we were English we would be allowed to display a flag of st George, just like everyone else on the planet is allowed to have nationality except us.

Dave,
You will see our flag flown at Rugby games and the Commonwealth games.
They can call me what they like and many do..ha.
Maybe we should form a break away group!
