According to a new study, "the rise in binge drinking by the young is a “fashion phenomenon” in which social networking, rather than the influence of key individuals, spreads the behaviour".

It says that those drinkers usually emitate their associates' behaviours, that is, the key of the growth in binge drinking.

Do you indulge in binge drinking? Are you copying your friends' behaviours? Is binge a fashion phenomenon?

Heh, funny question. Here in Finland it is not a fashion phenomenon. It is usual phenomenon. Well, it is not a phenomenon, it is "normal" every weekend finnish lifestyle. "Hard work needs hard amusements"
I think we get it from breastmilk. No need to copy it from anywhere or anyone. I have heard only british are more hard drinkers than finns. Sorry, Alan, lol.

When young, I used to DRINK like a finn, almost every weekend and quite many drinks. Nowadays, well, I would have time to drink but no time to suffer from hangover.

Carlos, you were a "heavy drinker" when you were young? Were you drunk at your wedding ceremony? You see, many people come to you and propose toasts to you. Did you handle them all? By the way, have you drunk Chinese liquor? It is strong than other kinds of wines.

For me, I don't like drinking at all. When dinning with my friends, I usually drink soft drinks or juice.

:=) Jimmy, I quite quickly noticed I must have several glasses on table all having only a little to drink. I think having about 18 - 20 toasts during evening and would my glasses have been fullfilled, drinking all bottoms up would propably have killed me. Now only first two were full.
There was some Chinese liquor too, strong, yes. Anyway, it was drunk from tiny cups and I think 10 of those would propably fill one normal whiskey glass, so not very dangerous then.

I like beer and wines and whiskey, single malt Scots.
Nowadays I drink wines only with food, beer sometimes with food and of course after sauna. Whiskey only sometimes a glass in evening.

Feel nowadays much better in weekendmornings compared to times 20 years before.

Carlos, it is true that many guys use tiny cups to drink Chinese liquor. However, I have seen guys who use big cups to drink. I just wonder what kind of people they are. How can they keep sober after drinking so much liquor? By the way, you'd better eat something before drinking Chinese liquor. Drinking on an empty stomach is not good for your stomach.

Usually we use the small ones to drink liquor.

Now now Carlos.
Who rattled your cage? he he
Binge drinking is a big problem over here in the UK, not that I have a problem with my drinking, I can go weeks without a drop, which is not a bad thing to be honest.
A friend of mine knocks his drink like it's out of fashion and wonders why he gets so drunk.
The best way is to be responsible and control your drinking.
I must be getting old! he he
