"Best" and "affordable" are relative. Your question is impossible to answer.

GUEST40145 Going from Shanghai to Huangshan takes about 10 hours... is that right? So you can just take an overnight train I think... Can you the take a train from Tunxi (Huangshan city) to Luoyang? does anyone know and maybe have anythoughts on how long that train would take? (or maybe know of a place to look at the train time tables for china in English) I'd appreciate any help

Yes, Shanghai -- Tunxi takes about 10 hours by overnight train, or about 5-6 hours by bus.
No direct train or bus for Tunxi -- Luoyang.
Can't really answer your question about which is cooler (I presume you don't mean temperature-wise!) as that's pretty subjective.

GUESTB Hi,

I know this is a thread from last year but we were planning to go to Huangshan this Thursday and wanted to know if there's a train that leaves Thursday night (April 9)? and we wanted to be back here on Saturday evening (April 11).. Is it possible?

Thanks,
