The cheapest travel would be to take any transport that bears the logo of hotel/casino, they will take you there for free. From that hotel you take another coach and go to the border Macau-Gongbei. The airport bus AP1 will cost you 3.30MOP (Macau Pataca) and taxi will be around 60MOP -- if you want to go to Zhuhai. in Gongbei, Zhuhai there are many buses to Shenzhen that will take about 2.5 hours. By ferry is about 1hour to Shekou that costs about 110RMB.

From Macau, there are 2 ferry terminals, but you can go to the new ferry terminal that goes to Shekou or Fuyong (Shenzhen) or to Hong Kong. Previously you can get day pass to Shenzhen but with the Olympic Games I would advise you to get visa from China consulate in Indonesia, less hassle.

Salam sejahtera

Dear WMS104
There are a lot of budget hotels in Gongbei where the price is within your budget, within walking distance from Gongbei Port (Immigration and Customs Complex). Friendship hotel across the road is only 170RMB per night. I have been to Shenzhen (Shekou) by ferry but never to Hongkong. Usually I used Macau-Hongkong route, but I am sure there's a ferry service between Zhuhai and Hongkong.

I am told from Zhuhai Jiuzhou Pier to Hongkong takes approximately 70 minutes (1hr 10 min) at 170RMB, with every two hour interval that departs from 09:00 until 21:30.

You can also go to HK from either Macau or Shenzhen. From Shenzhen you have the option of either train, ferry or bus/coach.

GUESTTRAVEL GAL hi there,
I'm from m'sia & i need some advice as me & my 2 friends r going to HK & Shenzhen for the 1st time. we r also trying to save as much money as possible for this trip.

Our flight will be arriving on a thursday nite at 20:10pm in Shenzhen airport & we planned to go HK(Mongkok) without staying overnite in shenzhen.

These r some of my questions:-
1) is MTR the best way to travel from Shenzhen to HK(Mongkok MTR station) as it is cheaper and faster?
2) if yes, then is the journey going to take too much time & arrives at Mongkok MTR station late? bcoz the journey goes like this:-
Shenzhen airport (arrive at 20:10pm) - take minibus to Luohu - queue at the immigration border - take MTR to Mongkok station (pls let me know if thats the correct way to travel). i m just worried about getting there too late as we still need to take few minutes walk from the station to our hotel.
3) will there still be any long waiting queues at the Shenzhen-HK border even on a weekday nite after 20:00pm?
4) or there is other better alternatives?

Dear Travelgal
1) Express bus to Luohu is 20 Yuan each that takes about 1 hr. You may take the white coaster/minibus but a little bit uncomfortable but no need for you to walk far to the Luohu Immigration/Customs Complex. If bus 330 stops at Huaqiang then Luohu, big and comfortable, same price but you need to walk about 10-15 mins. (if late arrival at Bao'an airport, can take bus to Huanggang because the border there opens 24 hrs, bus fare SZ-HK about 80-110RMB).
2) Your travel itinerary is just fine.
3) Weekdays not very congested.
4) You will arrive Mongkok before midnight.

Dear Wan,
i have checked the operation time for the coach/bus from the airport to HK is running from 10am to 9pm so i'm wondering whether i have the time to catch the bus since i will be arriving at 8:10pm & still hv to wait for the luggages :(

should i just take the K568 minibus instead to Lowu Commercial City Building? do u know what is the operation time for the minibus?

Dear Travelgal
1) I agree with your original travel itinerary, i.e. take minibus/coaster or bus 330 (whichever convenient to you) to Luohu (minibus stops at Luohu Commercial Centre) and take train to HK. Tickets to HK can be bought either from the vending machine or ticketing counter.
2) Usually minibus and bus 330 stops operation at 23:00.
3) Have you got the Chinese visa? You can either apply for double entry (6 months RM50) or multiple entry (6 months RM80), usually ready within 4 working days. You definitely need at least a double entry visa as your flights are from SZ.
4) Using train is very convenient, sometimes during peak hours you need to stand the whole journey to HK.
5) If you're in a tight budget, in HK try not to eat in hotel restaurants because even a glass of sugar cane juice sold at street stalls is already HKD10.

I do hope you have a nice trip
