Every time the winners stand on the stage, three beautiful girls hold gold, silver and bronze medals and flowers appear beside the stage. They are the ritual girls of Beijing Olympic Games. Do you notice them when watching the awarding ceremony?

Here are they.

I have seen girls in No. 2 appear at Water Cube and No.4 in Beijing Stadium but haven't seen others.

I don't think NBC News here in the U.S. has shown a single Olympic medal ceremony. Not even for U.S. athletes. Their viewership has declined because of their poor coverage. They only show highlights starting at 8 P.M. and they have plenty of interupptions for commercials. Even the Canadian channel shows ( which I get on my cable TV here in New Hampshire) only highlights with a lot of panel discussions instead of sports action. I know that the ceremonies are well done but I have not seen one yet.

YINDUFFY, why didn't they broadcast the awarding ceremony? Is it because the ritual girls are too beautiful? Do they fear those ritual girls steal the show of the winners? Just kidding! You see, Phelps has won five gold medals. The United States must be proud of him. It is a pity that you couln't watch the medal ceremony and the opening ceremony.

Just look at this Italian guy who won the champion of greco-roman wrestling. He was too excited and couldn't help kissing the ritual girl.

I am wondering if that Italian guy got permission from the Miss. It is rude to kiss a girl that you don't know.

Last night I saw on NBC the medal ceremony for female swimmers, (Russia:Gold, USA:Silver, Australia:Bronze) and saw the girls you mentioned. They were beautiful in white dresses with blue trim.
I mentioned in another post that the U.S. news media is almost anti-U.S. and they do not play up patriotic stuff like the medal ceremony. They will go into depth on an individual (or his mother) but will not gloat over the National standing.
Most of the coverage we see is recorded from earlier due to the 12 hour time difference and the TV people who make these decisions have chosen not to spend much time on the ceremonies.
Last night on the swimming 750 meter race, NBC interuppted the race three times for commercials - while the swimmers were in the pool competing!
