In the United States, there has been a strange phenomenon in recent years. Many American girls are dreaming of marrying death row inmates. Those death row inmates can receive millions of love letters per year. Girls know it clearly that the death row inmates will die someday. However, they don't care about this. It seems that marrying a death row inmates has become a new trend this year. Just this year, about 289 prisoners have got married in prison. Last year, 378 hardened criminals married their fans outside the prisons.

Why do girls fall in love with the death row inmates? According to the psychologists, those girls who want to marry death row inmates or hardened criminals have one thing in common---they have a tendency of self-persecuting. There are some other views: No.1 those who intend to marry death row inmates feel bored in daily life so that they want to find something new and exciting. No.2 they think that they can help the death row inmates but actually they can't.

What do you think of this phenomenon?

We choose partners we think will produce the best offspring. In this case the women know they won't have children but the instinct is still there. It might sound odd, but the diversity in the way we choose, including some choosing antisocial persons has enabled the survival of the fittest (or more accurately, the demise of the less fit).

Of course men choose women for a range of reasons too.

Paul, I am confused. Do you mean that women want to marry the death row inmates to produce the best offspring? Horrible! Wouldn't they be afraid that their children commit such crimes?

Isn't there a saying that women prefer bad boys? Or someone who would beat them black and blue?

SHE, you might be right. They are bad guys, very very bad.

"Or someone who would beat them black and blue?"

Well, if they have a tendency of self-persecuting, it is understandable that they marry these bad guys because they will be abused. The women will probably feel happy.

If I'm not mistaken, there was a thread from the past asking why women prefer to date those individuals who were considered as aggressive, "two timing", devious and etc, as opposed to an individual that was mild mannered and stable. The answers were both pro and con.
This appears to be extreme cases of the same mentality. I do agree with the thought of "just being bored" or maybe they've been watching too much television and have lost touch with reality (whatever that means).

LoL, I don't want our world turns into the "City of Sins". Sounds familiar? Yes, similar to a movie "Sins of the City".

SHE, I think that "bad guys" here doesn't refer to those death row inmates. At least, I won't marry a guy who will beat me black and blue after marriage.

Actually, there was a documentary about this. It was trying to understand why some women would do this. It is said that some women want to think that they can change these men. That they can change their attitude in the remaining days and they think it would be great if they could accomplish that. It’s like a mission. I can’t conclude anything really. I think a person can only change on his own, although a little push might help.

And believe it or not, there are women who would settle for jerks for the sake of so-called status.

GUESTMARGARET Iread an an article in a book, the article was about the life story of an DR inmate, I decided to write to the inmate, this inmate did not kill any other person but his accomplice did. I have fallen in love with this gorgeous man but having said that, he might not feel the same about me, but I live in another country. I have never had a relationship with a prison inmate before, or any man who has been in prison, but his story touched me like no other. this year I visited him in USA and we had a great visit, laughing the whole time. It is very distressing to know the deprivation he endures especially when he did not set out to kill anybody. I think about him all the time and I feel that he is the love of my life.My gut feeling about him is that he is inherently good and honest but he was homeless all his life, he brought himself up,as did his older brother and sister. They are all incredibly intelligent. Bill you are my hero! (if you ever see this you know who are)
