A study shows that chicken soup might lower high blood pressure. The researchers say that the collagen proteins contained in the chicken may act like ACE, a kind of medication that can inhibit high blood pressure.

The researchers emphasize that it is the chicken, not the rest stuff of the soup that is medicinal. And the chicken breast contains little collagen but the chicken legs and feet contain much collagen.

However, be careful with the salt that we add when making soup. It is said that the salt might offset or reverse this potential benefit.

also be careful with MSG because it is a salt that doesn't taste salty

I also have heard that chicken lips and teeth are extremely healthful and can protect us from a number of diseases. In a soup, they taste good too, but can be ground up and mixed with water to make a paste that is good for everything from brushing your teeth to ED!

Seth, is that true? I never heard that the chicken had teeth before. Otherwise, it needn't eat some small stones to help itself digest what it eats.

Cherry07 - I was making a bad joke! A dumb expression we have here speaks of something being "as rare as hen's teeth", which would be very rare since hens have no teeth! Also, they have no lips, so I was simply making a joke. I meant no offense by it.

Cherry07 - I've also read and heard of similar studies and I do believe chicken soup has been shown to have health-supporting properties. Plus I do like chicken prepared in almost all ways, except maybe boiled.

Chicken soup is ok to me. But I don't like fried chickens, too oily and unhealthy. Seth, if you don't liked boiled chickens, you can just have chicken soup, hehe.
