guest21106	Hi there Id very gratefull if anyone could give me any info and would ve greatfully appreciated. Ive applied to a do a volunteer work placement working in the Panda Sanctuary in Chengdu this coming January 2009. I have a criminal background and Im the process of getting a police certificate Ill be honest I have two convictions one of which is drugs related that a happened a few years back I have been clean now and on the mend and getting my life back on track. Id be very gratefull if anyone could tell me what are my chances of getting a visa with a criminal record and wether I should continue or not with my application. Thanks for your time

As China visa is issued by China consulate, it does not have your criminal record. It is good if you can make an inquiry at the visa section the possibility of getting a visa with such a background. GUEST32197	It doesnt require police certificates. Its just on the visa application form it states about a criminal conviction in any other country. Rather than going into the detail on the application form, Id like to bring the certificate along when I intend to go the chinese visa application centre and explain my circumstances there and then.

Further, the system here is 'don't rock the boat'. No-one is likely to enquire if you say 'no' to this question but if you say yes, you trigger a response. Just keep mum, ok?
