guest8293 I have heard and seen this phrase many times in many places. But I don't know what it actually means. Anyone can explain what 山寨 (Shan 1 Zhai 4) means?

It is like 恶搞,but 山寨 is not deliberately 恶搞.
山寨机=fake手机

Well, I think that Shanzhai cellphones are different from the fake ones. What is the fake cellphone? Totally useless. You can not use it to send SMS or make phone calls. This is called fake cellphone. But you can use shanzhai cellphone to make phone calls, send sms etc. Most shanzhai cellphones look very like those famous brands such as Nokia, Moto and SamSung. They even have more functions than those famous brands.

Can you distinguish which one is true Nokia N81?
