After buying them, the government will also spend a lot of money to support those sports cars. Where is the money from? The taxpayers. So it is another excuse for the government to spend its people's money.

On a more serious note I don't think it would be very safe for the police officers in car chases etc, at least in a hard top they would have some protection should they roll the car during a pursuit.
The British police do have some more powerful cars to be able to catch criminals in car chases, they even have TV programmes about them called " The Interceptors "

Not sure about Beijing, but looking at the traffic snarl in Kuala Lumpur, the police can hardly go above 120km/h. How many times the police need to chase the bad men in the freeway? Not sure about Beijing, but looking at the traffic snarl in Kuala Lumpur, the police can hardly go above 120km/h. How many times the police need to chase the bad men in the freeway?

They may not need sport cars. In downtown areas, the sports cars is useless because they can't run at full speed. So the helicopters are what they really need. Maybe, the government can consider of equipping the helicopters for the police.
