| Ive Been chatting now for 1 and a half years to a very nice lady in China she is in the Liaoning province and shes affraid to apply for a visa as she tried before to get one to visit her sister in Japan and was refused :( So she thinks she will also be refused if she applies for the UK As we would like to spend time together to see how our relationship developes and possibly if it is good we will Marry please can anyone tell us how we can go about getting together ? Or should I go to China and Marry Her there and then apply for a visa to bring her back to UK |

| Nivek, having your girlfriend get a visa to visit the UK is not a realistic option. You have two options really; visit/marry her in China or meet/marry in another country. You can find other countries where she can travel to in this thread. Each one would need to verified as the list changes day by day. http://community.travelchinaguide.com/forum2.asp?i=45245 |

| Kev, my Wife recently applied for and was granted a six month multi entry tourist visa to the UK. It took about five days. I included a cover note explaining that I would be traveling with her and would be covering all expenses. I hold a UK passport. As I understand it, to bring your wife to the UK would take up to 12 months. Cheers, Dodger. |

| Kevin as Dodger just answered, even if you go to China to marry your girlfriend, you can expect about a one year wait until you can bring your wife back to the UK. >>Kev, my Wife recently applied for and was granted a six month multi entry tourist visa to the UK. | Canadaguy, I failed to add that my Wife has also applied for a residency visa in Australia. This has been approved in part.. I included a copy of the visa in her application. She included a note from one of the local companies that she does some work for to show that she does have a history of employment. She also included bank statements .I also included copies of both my Australian and UK passport along with a copy of my Chinese visa. I did say that I was a director of an Australian company but did not include and prove. I did not mention that I would be staying with my son as this would then have been treated as a family reunion and not simply as a site seeing visit (which I also stresses in my cover letter) and would have meant another class of visa. I received my advise from a bloke who is also returning to the UK with his Wife (Chinese) and son for a holiday. I had no idea that they would be giving her a six month multiple entry visa. Kevin, on the UK visa application form it asks;” have you ever been refused a visa to the UK”? It does not apply to any other country. If she mentions that she is visiting to meet with her Fiancé it may well fall into the six to 12 month bin! An alternative strategy may be for her to travel with a tour group? The main criterion does seem to be that the Applicant has a reason to return to their place of origin. Kevin, if I can help further please message me. Cheers, Dodger. |

| Kev, As the UK government have made such a hash of controlling immigration to the UK they find it far easier to pick on legitimate applications and refuse them to improve their figures. Unfortunately many Asian females see the UK and some other countries as their Utopia and make every effort to find a way to move there, marrying being the easiest. Travel abroad for a single Chinese female alone is not easy. Usually tourists travel in tour groups. From information gleaned, a successful applicant would need to prove they will return to their own country within the period of a tourist visa. They would need to satisfy some or all of the following criteria; A substantial amount of money in a Chinese bank account. The amount seems to vary but think of four figures in stirling. A job with a letter from her employer promising the job will be left open for her return. Own her own property in China. Proof that she (or you) has the resources to fund her stay (bearing in mind that a UK tourist visa is valid for 6 months) Hotel booking or proof of accommodation, or maybe a letter of invitation with some proof of liquidity. Some people advise NOT to mention a romantic relationship. Some people advise to find a friendly UK Chinese family..... who might be related? Perhaps now you can see why you going there is much easier, although to get your visa you will need to supply either proof of hotel booking or a letter of invitation from the host family. If the latter you will also have to register at a local police station within 24 hours or arrival. |

I think that the 'approval in part' of the residency visa played the biggest part in her getting the multi tourist visa. In any event, congratulations and all the best! |
