![]() | Hello guys and girls, I am new to the forum and would like some assistance. I have never been to China before and I am wondering whether or not I need any vaccinations before I go. I hate needles, I go blind and deaf for like minutes after having a blood test so I would rather not have one however I don't want to spend the whole 4 weeks just being sick in my room or catching a bad disease. So I am wondering do I need a vaccination? What precautions can I take? I am from the UK, 19, Male, no health problems that I know of and I have had all the necessary vaccinations that you get in primary school and high school. However I have never been abroad before except Ibizia when I was 5 and New York last year. Any help, would be great. Thanks Will. |

It is recommended to take injections against hepatitis when travel to Southern China. For something that puts you to bed for weeks, I think there are not any injections. You should take acidophilus pills and other stuff with you. Contact your pharmacy about that. Mosquitos, use normal stuff for that. Enjoy your time there, Willy. Carlos |

![]() | I travel to China regularly and you DO need jabs, plenty of them depending on where you go. here are a list of the ones I had before visiting Hep B, 3 jabs plus a booster @ £30 each, one each month for 3 months then a blood test to check you have enough in you, otherwise may need another booster. Rabies, 3 jabs @£35 each, one each week for 3 weeks before travelling (and they hurt) Hep A and typhoid 1 jab, this ones free plus anti malaria of which I went for the pills as less side affects, these just cost a prescrition fee. best thing to do is go to your local surgery and speak to the nurse or doctor, tell them where you are going and they can check latest info. do it asap as some jabs need to be done well in advance. Get extra stuff from local pharmacy, I carry first aid kit with extras, cream and lotions for bites, syringes incase (at least I know they are new) painkillers, allergy pills etc etc |

You should understand between recommendations and requirements. Which part of China you have in mind to travel? Do you have allergies? I like southern part of China and have been to Shenzhen more than 25 times since May 2005. Last year there was an outbreak of H5N1 Avian flu, and thousands of fowls in HK were culled, and southern China areas were also affected but still thousands of visitors thronged Hong Kong as well as southern China cities. ![]() | Sorry guys I should of said where I was going. Firstly I have NO allergies or illnesses that I know of. I am going to China for four weeks, visiting Hong Kong and may also be visiting Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Shenzhen and Macau but they are not definite. I am staying on a chinese island I can't remember its name because my University is sorting it out but my University is really unorganised. I think its Jihan? Juhan? I really don't know for sure. I will report back today after asking my teacher. Thanks |
