guest62153 hi, everybody, i am going to china soon, is china a safe place to travel, what about the crime in china? i heard guangzhou is not very safe, is that true?

Just be careful with your belonging, and extra careful in crowded places... everywhere in big cities there are at least pickpockets. Though I lost once some money in Guangzhou (because I was not careful) I found that Guangzhou is a safe place to travel.

China is much safer than most places in the USA, but don't let that lull you into the happy land of gumdrops and lollipops. Pickpockets, con artists, hookers and cheats are very clever (as they are the world over) but they are on their home turf and know the rules - you don't.

Don't drink to drunkenness; don't go to unknown locations with new "friends;" keep reasonable hours; if you feel unsafe in a place - trust your gut; obey the laws and in general, don't be stupid.
