The medical test is valid for 6 months since the date of issue. You have to submit your documents before it expires.

You should not need to do the medical test until you are in China. Then the Z visa requirements are that the employer and you must apply for a Temporary Residence Permit (essentially a visa!) within 30 days. During that time you get the medical tests done in China at special medical centres.

GUEST12456 I had to submit a medical exam certificate in Brisbane for my z visa, & undergo another exam, after I arrived in China in September 2011. The Chinese I work with just said to me that Australia treats their nationals in exactly the same way.

GUEST12456 They usually wants blood tests for aids, hepatitis, & a chest xray for TB. And a urine test to pick up any illicit use of narcotics.

GUEST97187 i just called the chinese embassy in london and they told me i dont need it, where as my employer seems to be saying i need to suck it up and do it! but i kinda want to save the £164 its going to cost me just to have my blood taken (AGAIN :(!! ) and an x-ray of my chest.
Also, i had the whole aids test n stuff last october and i kinda dont want to have to do it all over again!

Yes, it is required because your employer needs it to get the work permit for you. After entering to China, you need to be checked again when applying for residence permit. Keep in miand that the check should be taken within 6 months.

The consulate is right - of course!!!! You get the medical done in China at a special centre.
