Physical examination (medical) required for Z, X visas?

Yes, blood samples, chest X-ray and ECG must be done. I think the physical examinations in UK is a must according to the rule. Otherwise, you may not acquire the work permit.

As for the physical examinations done when applying for the resident permit, some places just require this for those first-time new comers. Where will you work in PRC? I might help you check out the related rules.

GUEST91226 A completed health certificate is definitely required for a UK application for a Z visa. However, I'll only have a week at most in the UK to apply for my visa. Where can I get this form completed quickly and, preferably, cheaply?

Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

I am afraid that you can't find a hospital on your own and have the PE done. Generally, the embassy ask the applicants to do the physical examinations at the appointed hospitals. I think you might consult with the Chinese embassy in London.
