Tibet and Acute Mountain Syndrome

guest38213 Hi guys

Has anyone been to Tibet before that can share stories? I plan to fly in to Lhasa and just spend a few days there in Jan which I know will be freezing but can't do it any other time.

I hear you can have problems breathing because of the altitude and have to walk around slowly etc.

If I fly in directly as planned, it will be quite a sudden change for my body. Plus unfotunatley I am not at my healthiest these days, having gained some weight over the years.

Anyone have any disaster (or awesome!) experiences of Tibet/Lhasa to share?

Hi I'm planning to go to Tibet as an English tour guide for some guests. One suggestion is to take some exercise before you go there. The altitude sickness might be terrible if you didn't prepare well. To run or swim will be a good idea. You'd better get an oxygen bag in advance if you don't think your body is ready. TRY to avoid getting cold after you arrive. Sometimes it will be a big problem for you.
By the way, where are you from? If you are a foreigner, you have to get a permit from the police office before you go there...
If you need any help, just let me know ^-^
