| From Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, 1594: JULIET: 'Tis but thy name that is my enemy; Thou art thyself, though not a Montague. What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot, Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part Belonging to a man. O, be some other name! What's in a name? that which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet; So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd, Retain that dear perfection which he owes Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name, And for that name which is no part of thee Take all myself. I’ve been to Verona and they have a monument to the young couple. Beautiful City, but don’t drink the water! | I have also been to Verona...and Stratford-upon-Avon where I DID drink the water. What's in a name? that which we call "A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME WOULD SMELL AS SWEET". I eagerly await a Chinese interpretation. |

Well, an easy way to make the guests feel happy is to call their names instead of calling them beauty and Sir... That's true and works very well... But I guess if we call a patato tomato, it will be still potato^-^ I'm not interested in Shakespeare's work since I know my English level^-^ But I would like to have a visit to Verona someday. But here's the question, is there any implication of "don't drink the water"?

"Beautiful City, but don’t drink the water!" = a contradiction...an incongruity,

"A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME WOULD SMELL AS SWEET".不管叫什么,玫瑰总是香的?(Direct translation?) No matter what you call it, a rose is a rose? I wish it wouldn't influent my job as an interpreter...

HB, I stayed in a small but beautiful hotel, but there was only one bathroom per floor. While cleaning my teeth one morning I completely forgot the standard of the water in Italy and swallowed some of the tape water.. I spent the next two days running to the only bathroom. I was lucky, as it was always available in my time of need! I was saved and cured by a Chinese Doctor in the end from making a spectacle of myself. One experience I will never forget. Don’t drink the tap water. Dodger.

Dodger, I'm sorry to hear your hard time in the Italy toilet. But as a Chinese, I wouldn't drink any tap water no matter where I am. So it's not a problem for me. But thank you very much for telling me^-^ But I guess it's a good thing of Italy. If you were in China, I bet you wouldn't be that lucky to find the bathroom available each time^-^ By the way, I'm very happy to hear that there's a Chinese doctor to help ^-^ Yolanda
