On Oct. 28th, Zhengzhou launched an operation to fight pornographic activities. About 300 police “attacked” some gambling places and finally arrested 9 people. Also, 2 bath centers and 1 e-game center were closed.

Their operation was successful since they caught 9 people involved in prostitution and some illegal entertainment houses were closed. However, a photo of a naked prostitute has drawn much attention from the public. In that photo, a bald police pulled a nude girl’s hair to let her face seen by others. And you could see that she tried to clasp her hands to cover her breast.

After this photo appeared in the news, hundreds of netizens discussed heatedly if it is legal to release such a picture publicly. A guy wrote a short essay and called that police “a hero who humiliated a prostitute”. In his view, he not only humiliated a prostitute but also insulted the whole society. His behavior forces people to think that people’s fundamental rights can not be respected in China.

Prostitutes are also humans too. Their dignity should be respected too. Those law enforcers should enforce the law in a civilized manner.

Prostitutes have no personal dignity. If they do have, they won't be prostitutes. But I am ashamed of that police. He was so proud that he wanted everyone to know that he caught a prostitute.

I agree with you entirely JIMMY B. Well said! Prostitution is the worlds oldest profession and in my opinion a respectable one at that. In many countries throughout the world it's now seen as a normal job where taxes are paid and safety precautions are enforced. Without clients, prostitution could not flourish the way it always has, and still does in China. Perhaps this brave policeman should have held a high ranking customer up to public ridicule instead of selecting a defensless prostitute. And please don't insult my intelligence by suggesting that nobody of high status would use the services of a prostitute. This policeman is a bully and a coward.

"Prostitutes have no personal dignity. If they do have, they won't be prostitutes" Your comment LONELYJO is without empathy or understanding. What gives you the right to make such a judgement about a life you know absolutely nothing about? Who knows what has driven this girl to this action. There but for the grace of god go I.

Of course they have little or no choice HERBEAT. I can't imagine any women choosing this lifestyle if they did have a choice. The customers on the other hand DO have a choice!

I believe if beggars have choice, they won't be beggars. if beggars live in beggars society, they don't have sense of dignity. The same situations as those in Thailand and camboida where the dignity is money not he prostitutes.

Well, of course I don't know how they live because I am not a prostitute. Not long ago, Xi'an police also launched attack against a night club called Yangguang (Sunshine) Guo Hui. In all, the police caught 119 escort girls. Finally, the pollice had to use three buses to bring them back to the police station. All these girls are young and beautiful. But they wear few clothes.

Some of them might be forced to take this profession for some reasons. I am definitely sympathetic with them. However, some take this job willingly because they can earn a lot of money. It is said that a girl can earn 300 to 1500 RMB per day. They know what they do is illegal but they still choose this profession. Thus, they deserved to get arrested.

Well, I am surprised that no customer in that night club was caught. It's too weird. If those girls do illegal activities, their customers must be involved too. Why did they only arrest escort girls?

You are obviously jealous that someone could earn such big money from such little effort LONELYJOE. It is not the profession than you find so confronting. It's the rewards! Stop feigning indignation and start apportioning blame where it belongs. Not with the girls. With the customers!

These girls satisy a need in society. Without them, incidences of rape and sexual assault would escalate. This is a victimless crime. Nobody is hurt and everybody leaves happy. So where exactly is the harm?
