I think the only blatant difference between HK and mainland China is the cost of living. Brace yourself for the unexpected cost of food. I seldom do the shopping in HK except to buy shoes or backpack bag. The price of Clarks shoes, and Samsonite bag (and friend did tell me also some electronic products) are indeed cheaper than mainland China. 2. I have not the opportunity to be in HK during Chinese New Year. For the past three years, I was in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, but I did stay in HK during Christmas, even this year probably I will be in HK too during Christmas as I will be in Shenzhen for the whole month of December. May you have a nice trip to HK Wan

Though my second message is late but I was quite busy moving around in the whole month of December. I was 4 times in HK from Shenzhen just to buy some programmable calculators. In Xiamen I experienced the tremor of the earthquake in Taiwan. Going to Ocean Park and the Peak is better than going to Disneyland. Not only you have to fork out HKD350 but it's just a small place. At the Terrace of the Peak, you can see almost the whole HK Island for only HKD48 including the Peak Tram ride. Maybe you can buy Octopus card for HKD150, (HKD100 credit, and HKD50 for the card that is refundable if you return the card). Most Chinese mainland would go to Mongkok for some shopping. Wan

hey thanks wan, I really enjoy posting here. get a lot of feedback very fast! haha. according to the octopus card right? Where can i get it? I plan to take the DingDIng tram along the way from wan chai to the end. is it worth it? since i'm spending about 8days in HK alone. I wanna feel the culture in depth. Do you have any suggestion on how to spend more time in Hk? I want to go Lan Kwai Fong right after the The Peak, is it near? During Chinese New Year can i get a chance to see Lion Dance Performance ? Where is the best place to visit in HK?

Mostly around TST East near Avenue of Stars you can see some fireworks, bit not sure now. You can get info at the border at Lowu. They will give you some highlights in HK. But if you take bus from Bao'an airport, then you can get info after Huanggang Kouan Wan
