Karaoke? you have got to be kidding. My singing is slightly worse that a tone deaf dead hedghog.

My Chinese is pretty poor but I am very good at reading pinyin, so maybe a speech prepared in advance that I can read out.
I suppose if I wear traditional Chinese clothes I will have to have that made over there, not the sort of thing my local Burtons stocks.

Rings, we have decided to buy in HK, provided she can get paperwork to pop over the border

Read a speech in Pinyin? I'm sure I would find it's very funny if I were there. Hmmm... I just asked friends what they think. They also give me the same answer, very interesting. But you know what? One said he would ask you to read the speech again but beginning from the end...
Is there a tradition for you two to share an apple at the same time? Or do you need to carry your wife to walk for a long distance?

Why would reading it be funny? I have been learning Chinese for 7 years, I think people would be able to understand my version of Chinglish

Seven years? Then I am sure that making a speech in Chinese at your wedding day is just a piece of cake as long as you prepare it in advance. Maybe, you can learn a Chinese song and sing at the banquet. Your wife and the guests will be very happy.

Dave, that's just my own opinion. I think the wedding ceremony is something enjoyable and to give a speech, especially a reading is a very formal activity. Too formal to me, actually. But as I always said, I think everything would be accepted...

Everyone is different and people all have different opinions and feelings, even different values, right? What I've said is just an opinion from an independent human being. That's all... But I'll still do apologize if I offended you...

GUEST04154 Davec, I suggest you have a look at these photos, to have a more vivid idea of how a Chinese wedding will be held.

Well, if your Chinese is like a native speaker, you will surprise people. And if not, they would also be surprised. So what's the difference? Just relax and enjoy the most wonderful time... Cheers...

My Chinese most certainly is not good, but I suppose it would be good for a bit of fun.
