GUEST91435 Agree. Sun Wukong is a character based on Hanuman. Journey to the West was to get the Buddha scriptures. Hindu was older than Buddhism and Buddhism itself came from that region and spread to China. Hanuman is stated by scholars to be the inspiration for the allegory-filled adventures of a monkey hero in the Xiyouji (Journey to the West) – the great Chinese poetic novel influenced by the travels of Buddhist monk Xuanzang (602–664 CE) to India.

GUEST25134 So I read this blog because I wanted to see a connection between chinese/indian monkey kings. Your theory seemed most plausible. So many people and so many opinions over such a long time period... but no one bothered to look at the timelines (age).
Indian mythology happened 7000+ years Ago.
Chinese dynasties go as far back as 6000+ BC
Mesopotamian/Babylon civilizations all happened afterwards, 5000+ BC.
Egyptian about 2000+ BC then came Greek and Roman mythologies.
Remember BC goes backwards counting up. Higher the number older the age.
(for this thread chinese monkey king happened Tang dynasty 600 BC and later)
I have my pet theory by following how life evolved from Africa and how it went propagating. Indians seem to have come from african basin. Most of internal land food (non sea food) in asia came from advanced cooking techniques stretching from western to eastern africa. yes curry type of cooking minus curry leaves too.
Here is the interesting part... all Asian cultures have the same or similar stories connected to indian mythology 7000. Malaysia, thailand, cambodia, vietnam, korea, some of china, practically all asian countries. I also similarities in Egyptian/Greek/Roman but then had to reject them because of timelines. There is proof for all mythologies in terms or artifacts. Another thing to note is all asians tell tall tales, it's in our blood. so timelines can be calculated erroneously when passing a mythology down the generations. I am only collecting data... and know that africans (originated from apes) migrated to every part of the world first, acclimated to the local areas and changed to ethnicities like scientists have proven already. we also know civilization truly solidified during mesopotmian era where current languages origins go back to... I can trace food, features, languages from a nexus to all areas with evidence and also scientific proof tying it all together. In other words we are all the same people, we know that intrinsically from reading somewhere or learning in school, but truly, if you objectively look at it all we are all the same! Even the Mayans all the way in latin america have the same mythology! And icelandic tales or old nordic tales connecting to central/southern european mythology. It almost seems like Pangea was alive within the 10000 years ago and not 175 million years ago if we think simplistically... but it is also proof that our cells and life evolved according to design with remnants of Pangea, independently, on its own with limited(?) comingling way back in history before BC. then came Jesus and messed up everything! (that's probably a bad joke ;>)
