Hi,

I will be travelling to Hongkong from April 20 to 23 2010. As this is my 1st time going to hongkong, can anybody advise which hotel is better? Not too expensive though. I plan to visit Disneyland, the peak and ocean park. anybody got other recommendations for me? Where or Which shopping center will be good to shop?

Sorry, but it sounds like you should do some of your homework first, and also be more specific when asking questions.
For example, what do you mean by "better", and "not too expensive"? Look on http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g294217-Hong_Kong_Hong_Kong_Region-Hotels.html for a start.
There're lots of places to see in Hong Kong, but what would you consider interesting, we have no idea! Neither do we know what you want to shop for. Here're 3 URLs that you can start reading up on.

You still have not named your budget for accommodation. Did you try to look on the list of hotels on TripAdvisor yet?
Those few places that you've named are all at different places of Hong Kong. Disneyland is on Lantau island, The Peak is on Hong Kong island but not near Ocean Park. Ladies Street is in Kowloon. No one hotel will be near all those places. I would suggest that you look for somewhere near a MTR stop.
Here's a route planner for Hong Kong's MTR which should help you out: http://www.mtr.com.hk/jplanner/flash_eng/index.php

Most information about these places can be found over the net, from hotel to food and visits. The best way is find hotel or hostel that is not far from MTR station.

Yes Wanhu, that was exactly what I've been trying to tell this traveller -- do some of your homework first!

GUEST21676 The Slivermine Beach Hotel is a 3 star hotel that has clean rooms, and helpful staff. It's located right on the beach on Lantau Island. It's out of the way, but for a 3 star, the rooms are large and the hotel/motel is a bit rustic, but if you're planning to be out most of the time, it's good for what you need...nice beds and hot water for a shower, and a great breakfast buffet.
It takes about 30 minutes by ferry to get to Hong Kong, and a 10 minute walk to the ferry.
Like others have mentioned, you need to know what you want and spend some time on line to see what's available. I have found that you "get what you pay for" in China, and the majority of "cheap" hotels smell like smoke, are are noisy and offer cold or sometimes warm Chinese breakfasts. If you want more you must pay for it. We choose this hotel because of the price and it was located on the same island as the airport.

GUESTRONY I have a good suggestion where to stay and low budget too. I did stay with my family and one of my friends stayed there too. I have stayed there couple of times.

I tell you what, you will get personalized, friendly charming service and staff are very helpful. There is one in TST and the other is atTung Chung, close to disneyland

Both are close to all transport, shopping malls, etc.
