In my hometown, future mother-in-law opinion on the girl doesn't count much coz a boy usually has already determined to marry a girl before he takes her to see his parents.

What if the mother-in-law doesn't like the boy? Can the girl listen to her mother to break up with her BF? I know a girl who is in this kind of situation. Finally, they broke up.

In my hometown, if a girl has a boyfriend, she might bring him home to see her parents. But seeing parents doesn't mean that they will get married soon. The girl just introduces her BF to her families. If their parents like him, they will not stop their girl. If the girl and the boy think it is time to get married, then both the girl and the boy's parents will talk about engagement. Then they will choose an auspicious date to get married.
