Sorry Bob, I've been preoccupied lately and got lazy in replying, my apologies....As my stay was short (4 days) I couldn't possibly decide. The duration I spent in Beijing flew past and I seemed to chase my tourist guide’s flag more than I appreciate the surroundings, perhaps next time I should pick a season where there are less tourist and dump the guide. Have you been to Beijing Bob?

Yes, I have been to Beijing, but only briefly, and a long time ago. I have spent a total of almost two years in China, split up into 15 visits spread over 20 years. I have seen quite a lot of the country, but much more of Guangxi Province than other areas. I plan on returning in July.

My advice would be to definately dump the tour guide. Totally unnecessary.
