i agree, i think its fun to take care of my daughter (most of the times) But for others it's very old fashioned: The man takes care that the family has shelter, food and money, the woman takes care of the shelter, food and child (also money often)
I believe that it's connected to the slow changing or "just now" changing chinese population.
