| Just got back from Hangzhou a few weeks ago. A nice place. Yes the lake and the pagoda are great. (Be careful buying a ticket for the boat trips. We were told the ticket let you get off and on for the day. Got off on far side of the lake and was told we have to buy another full price ticket to get back.) About 2 hours south of Hangzhou is a great place to see. Similar to the hanging monastery near {Datong,http://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/datong.htm}. In Hangzhou itself there is the old street which is a great tourist shopping street, and also silk street if you want to buy some silk. Go with a local as the prices to them are around 20% of what is shown on the tag <g>. If you want a small laugh you could visit this huge modern museum which I found to be the most unusual subject I have ever seen. It was the China Finance and Taxation Museum! I head back to {Harbin,http://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/heilongjiang/harbin/} and Shanghai in around 3 weeks. and plan to go to Suzhou too. |
