Hi,
I have a question about the famous Maotai liquor. In this website dictionary, the pinyin of 茅台 is "Máotái", but here in China, on the brand's advertisement, we can read "Moutai", with a "o" instead of the "a"?
Why?

Maotai is the correct pronunciation of 茅台in Pinyin. Moutai is its brand name. Many foreigners do not read Chinese and can't pronounce it correctly in Pinyin. To help them know this brand, English phonetic symbols are used.

I don't agree with Moutai factory . YOU are chinese brand, and english phonetic symbols for MAO,why not Tai.
So it is arbitrary
