Beijing-Shanghai high speed trains will start to run at the end of this month. The ticket prices have been released by the Ministry of Railways:

300 km/h high speed trains:
Business class: CNY1750
First class: CNY 935
Second class: CNY555

250 km/h high speed trains:
First class: CNY650
Second class: CNY 410

What’s more, the Ministry of Railway will implement floating ticket prices according to the market need. During the low season, the ticket prices might be reduced. Otherwise, the ticket prices might be increased.

How much time does it take from Beijing to Shanghai by high speed trains? It just takes 4 hours and 48 minutes from Beijing to Shanghai or vice versa if you take 300 km/h high speed train and 7 hours and 56 minutes by 250 km/h high speed train.

Where can I buy the Beijing-Shanghai high speed train tickets? Passengers can buy the tickets via traditional channels like railway stations and train ticket outlets. Beijing-Shanghai high speed train ticket online sales service will be available very soon. Passengers can also visit www.12306.cn to buy tickets online.

GUESTRICHARD That's great to hear. But why do the 250km/h take so much longer than the 300 km/h ones? Do they perhaps also stop more often or for longer periods? 250 is 83% of 300, but 4 hours 48m is 61% of 7 hr 56m

Good question. G trains stop at 8 stations and D trains stop at 15 stations. That's why it takes much longer time.
