Exactly.

What kills me in Chinese: the four tones.

I never know whether I'm on the first floor, second floor, third floor or fourth floor...but I know that I'm always on the wrong floor!

You know, many Chinese ask "Why is difficult for a Chinese to learn English?". Better learn experience from those who successfully master Chinese or English. They may share you with their valuable experience. I have seen some foreigners who speak fluent Chinese.

It's possible when: 1. you start early in life, and 2. you have some talent/grasp for languages.

Well, practice makes perfect. Sometimes, there is no shortcut.
