This is one reason why their fertility rates have fallen. In Hong Kong, 1000 women would be expeted to give birth to just 547 daughters according to HK’s fertility rates. If the fertility rates don’t rise, those 547 daughters would be replaced by 299 daughters of their own. The Economist calculates that it would take about 25 generations for Hong Kong’s female populations to shrink to just one in the year 2798. Maybe it's theoretical but what if it really happens?
