Somehow I kinda disagree when it is said that buying outdated stars to play in chinese league is no good. It all depends on what level chinese players, teams and the league itself are.

If the chinese level is something about English lll-division, then the stars are way too big and very soon frustrated. It is not soccer if Anelka comes down, takes the ball and runs with it to the other end of field and scores. It also is not very nice to watch if lll-div chinese players try to assist the ball to Anelka but it always goes somewhere else.

However, if other players are talented enough to play a real soccer with the stars, it may rise the level of the whole team. People will then enjoy the game and more people will come to watch the game. News will tell more positive things about chinese soccer and kids wants to play soccer as well and be as talented as Anelka, Drogba or even some chinese star.

Seed is then planted and if it is treated with care the will be good.

Carlos,

Just look at Chinese men's national team and you will know what level Chinese Super League is at. They can even lose to Costa Rica, which just has a population of 460 million people in all.

I even doubt if Chinese men's national team can defeat Brazilian women's national team.

Funny, Kevin, that you mention the amount of population as a criterion for winning or loosing. Funny for me because here in Finland the population is about 5 million. Bigger is not always better. (goes with many other things too, no offence, ;=) he he) The population of Costa Rica is really 4,5 million. Almost everybody plays soccer there and that is what finally counts.

Would the population be THE criterion, China would definitely win the World Cup.

Carlos, it isn't funny.

China has a population of more than 1.3 billion. Unfortunately, it can not select 11 capable footballers to play football. Costa Rica just has a population of 4.5 million. But they have 11 true men to play football.

It is sarcastic, isn't it? I really feel ashamed for Chinese men's national football team. The only thing they can do is to "have fun" with beautiful girls and buy valuable LV bags and other luxurious things. They just can't play football.

It is really useless to invite famous football coach to train the team. He just wastes his time and damages his reputation.

Kevin, Shanghai Shenhua is chasing Drogba. The boss flew to Switzerland to negotiate with his broker. But they didn't reach an agreement because Drogba and his broker had too many conditions.
