In China, there are over 100 million farmer workers. They are actually farmers, but travel afar to earn more money to support the family. They can only reunite with their family during the festivals and holidays. Their children are remained in rural areas with only one parent, or even no parent but only senior grandparents. The story I’m going to retell is a reunion story between such a remaining child and her dearly father during the Chinese New Year festival. I read it online and just want to share it with you.

Daddy is coming home to spend the Chinese New Year with the family. The 4-year-old little girl Maomao is waiting.

Maomao burst out crying when the strange man held her in his arms. She cannot recognize her own father after one years' separation. The poor Daddy also torn down, because of Maomao's crying rather than the happiness of reunion.

But they two became familiar with each other very soon and got along very well. On the Chinese New Year's Eve, Maomao found out the lucky coin wrapped in dumplings (jiaozi). She was very glad with it and considered the lucky coin as her most precious treasure.

A touching story. It just shows the real fact in China. Many farm workers come to the cities to make money so that they can support their families. Many of them keep their children at home and raised by their grandparents.

It is lucky if they can get home before the Spring Festival to reunite their families. Sadly, some of them can not buy the train tickets. Yesterday, I read that some farm workers blocked a road, protesting that they couldn't buy the train tickets. They didn't have other ways.

Another farm worker queued for six days and nights to buy the tickets but still failed to get the ticket.

Maomao spent a very happy Chinese New Year with Daddy. Sitting on Daddy's shoulders, she even saw the dragon and lion dances for the first time.

Maomao gave her lucky coin to Daddy and said:" Daddy, when you come home next year, let's wrap it in another dumpling."
