2012 London Olympics will be held this summer. Do you believe UK will win more gold medals than Beijing Olympics?

I believe that the UK will win more gold medals at London Olympics. Home-field advantage is the main reason. Take China for example, China just won 32 gold medals in 2004 Athens Olympic, three less than the USA. In 2008, it won 51 gold medals at Beijing Olympics, ranking as No.1 in gold medals table. The USA just won 36 gold medals.

What do you think?

GUEST13063 You're right. Besides the home court advantage, there are the judges in certain sports who tend to give locals more points, for various reasons.
One of them is favors. And sometimes favors come in the form of hard cash.

Obviously, the host will be favored by the judges. It's common sense.

Yes. During the game of Table Tennis Women's Singles, the judge called service faults four times. As a result, Ding Ning lost the game to her teammate Li Xiaoxia. During the interview, she said that there was nothing wrong with her service. She didn't know why the judge called service faults.

Again, Chinese badminton player Wang Xin requested to sweep the court but the judge refused. Thanks to the slippery court, Wang Xin got injured when she returned the shuttlecock and withdrew from the match.

In the Cycling track games, China’s two cyclists were robbed of a gold medal when they were disqualified for a rule violation. Their coach said he asked the judges to overrule their decisions but he just got a vague explanation. When he required them to watch the footage, the judges refused.

A member of British cycling team who won the gold medal in cycling track admitted that he fell down intentionally to gain better scores during the preliminary competition. But IOC said there was no reason to doubt the final results.
