Yesterday, Beijing was hit by the heaviest rain in six decades. It is said that at least ten people were killed and a large number of cars and buses were trapped in some areas of Beijing.

The heaviest rain has exposed that the drainage system in Beijing didn't work well. Can we do something to improve the drainage system?

It is reported that this storm had killed 37 people, including 25 drowned, six crushed in collapsing homes, five electrocuted and one struck by lightning. It is a pity and a shame that the drainage system in capital of China does not work well.

Also, in sharp contrast to the new metropolis, the 600-year Forbidden City has better drainage system. I feel shame again...

What does this imply? The ancient people are much smarter than us. We can build high skyscrapers but can not build good drainage system.

This time, they are fully prepared for the rain. But the rain didn't come. Last night, the streets, subway stations, restaurants were almost empty. As you said, locals got home very early.
