On World Car Free Day (09/22), students from Hefei University rode buffalo on street to introduce the importance of environment protection and advocate low carbon travel. Impressive! Words on the left board: 无车日,关爱城市(wú chē rì, guān ài chéng shì) - Car Free Day, Love the City Words on the right board: 骑水牛,倡导低碳(qí shuǐ niǘ, chàng dǎo dī tàn) - Ride Water Buffalo, Advocate Low Carbon

Except in villages, it's not easy to see water buffaloes anymore. Before tractors, water buffaloes were used to plow the land for planting paddy (rice). Many of the those rice fields today have become concrete jungle instead. Wan

Wan, You may not know that our family has a tractor. My dad has been driving the tractor for almost 25 years. That tractor has contributed a lot to our family. Otherwise, I won't have a chance to study in college. Seriously, we don't have a buffalo because we are in northern China.
