All these Hanyu pingyin written here won't help a foreigners learn Mandarin. They will pronounce them wrongly. How do you pronounce "mei nv" ?
Only way is to learn by audio and speak regularly on a trial & error basis. Practice makes perfect - don't be shy to use it.

And yes, a sure way to pick up the language fast is to go get a Chinese gal friend and sucks up her saliva !
