Bobert, you are a very honest guy who always tells the truth. No matter the idiom is absurd or not, girls love to hear it.

Yes Jimmy, I'm sure girls would love to hear that idiom. It would confirm to them that you are now their slave and will never leave them nomatter what they do. They have extracted a promise from you that now allows them to get fat, treat you poorly, or do whatever they choose regardless of what you want. If you break your promise and leave them, despite having just cause, you will be rightly accused of breaking your word. You have now given them all the power. Are you sure you want to do that? I could never make such a promise.

Bobert,

What if I ask her to give the same promise? Then I think it's a fair game.

Jimmy, I agree. If you both give the same assurance them it would be fair. But that's not what the idiom is all about. The idiom is a unilateral promise that YOU will never leave HER.

Fine,

If she asks me to give me such a promise, I will require her to give a similar one. Never make yourself inferior in a relationship. Otherwise, she will become an empress and you will be the servant.

Jimmy. You began this conversation asking about the grammatically correctness of the idiom you quoted. I have no doubt you will not need to ask a similar question about this... "It is an interesting conversation you had like out of 18th century."

Bobert,

I may ask her a similar question. But I am not sure if I can expect a satisfying answer from her. If this conversation is like the one of 18th century, then I would like to know 21th century version.

GUEST13740,

Women want their men to say this. To my understanding, they want their men to be their slaves. I guess that you are a woman.
