On April 24, the official account of Associated Press on Twitter was hacked. The hacker sent a tweet "Breaking: Two Explosions in the White House and Barack Obama is injured."

It was a hoax, but just in seconds, Wall Street was in panic. The Dow JonesIndustrial Average into free-fall and erasing nearly $200 billion off the broader market's value.

A 70 words sentence erases $200 billion market's value. Can you believe it?

Jimmyb, the hacker is much more powerful than Twitter. He hacked AP's account and made a joke with us. I strongly suggest that the NSA should recruit him.

Cherry, it reminds me of a bank officer who siphoned interest money from individual bank accounts, not much about 2-20 cents each (which you won't realise as your money is still there untouched). He was found guilty and jailed for 3 years. Coning out from the prison, the police took him as one of the workers in computer fraud division.

That's better for him. He can use his talent to serve the people.

[coming out of the prison*]
He should have used his talent to serve the public and not because of the parole. Anyway it's better late than never. What will the law do in China if a man embezzles money from the bank?

Dear Wan,

The punishment depends on how much money you embezzle, what your purpose is and whether you return it back. It's difficult for me to state this issue clearly. But I am very sure that the punishment for embezzlement is too light.

Embezzlement of public money is a gross misconduct and should be dealt severely. Anyway you should enlighten me the meaning of "too light". Thanks.

there are four categories:
More than 100000 RMB: more than 10 years imprisonment, life imprisonment or death penalty. Their properties will be confiscated as well.
50000 to 100000 RMB: more than 5 years imprisonment or life imprisonment. Their properties will be confiscated as well.
5000 to 50000 RMB: 1 to 7 years imprisonment or 7 to 10 years imprisonment (if the case is serious).
5000 to 10000 RMB: they might be exempted from the punishment if they hand over the embezzled money.
0 to 5000 RMB: two years imprisonment or detainment (if the case is serious). Otherwise, they just receive administrative penalties.

What do you think?

Wan,

The punishment written in the law is severe. But it's the judges who decide what the punishments to give. The unfair judgements are made many times.

There are reports where judges are biased but then as the upholder of the laws they know the loopholes. I have seen the points taken by judges based from World Law Journal.
