social networking while staying in Beijing

Hi Friends: I will in Beijing for 8 days. I knew that Facebook and similar networks are banned there. Is this true? and what are my options to communicate with friends and Family? Is Skype or Twitter or WhatsApp are options ?

Skype and WhatsApp are useable, I don't know about Twitter.
