Many college graduates will leave their colleges and step into society in July. Before they leave, they usually hold a farewell dinner party. I still remember the farewell dinner party held by my classmates. Our monitor discussed with us and then decided to hold our farewell party at a hot-pot restaurant. We sung and played games at the party and a girl got drunk at last.

Six years has passed. I almost lost contact with most of my classmates. However, I still remember the days we stayed together.

Do you still remember your farewell dinner party? Did you shed tears at the party?

Some people decide to hold farewell dinner at a posh hotel which I think it's a waste of money as well as many students can't afford. The main reason was simple the President of the university would be attending with a few other dignitaries. The students paid for them although those VIPs could afford to pay.

Wan,

We didn't spend too much money. Three tables just cost around CNY 800. We had ten people at a table. Did you remember any farewell party?

The cost is very reasonable, less than 30 Yuan each. I did attend a few farewell dinners when I was working at one cultural centre of a foreign embassy. One one occasion, the Director-General of the Cultural Centre was moving back to his home country and another is the ambassador was called back for a higher post. I didn't have to pay anything but the meals were too overindulgence.

After I joined my company, I got to know some colleagues. They are also my friends. We often dined together. When A quit, we held farewell party for him. I remembered taht we had farewell parties four times. It means that four of them quit. So far, I am the only one that still stay. If I left someday, no one would hold farewell party for me.

You mean your company has only five employees and when four quit, only you remain in the office?

No, No, No, Wan.

Our department has more than five employees. I meant "the five" are my closest friends.

They won't make you any farewell party, I think.

Yes, but we are still in touch. Sometimes we meet and dine together. It's nice to have them as my colleagues. Now they are my friends.

Do you know why they won't make you a farewell party? Because there will be no farewell as you will be working there a long time, to build your career and expertise.

Wan,

If I left before they left, they would hold a farewell party for me. People have their own plans. They have reasons to leave and I have reasons to stay.
