TIPS FOR NEW CHINA VISA POLICY As we know, the new China visa policy was issued early last month. Since then it becomes more difficult for foreign friends to extend their visa in the cities in China. However, after this September 1st, the new China visa policy will be fully in effect, which will make it even more difficult for the great number of forieng friends in China ! After collecting much information and experience from our foreign friends to work on their China visa these days, I kindly share the below warm tips for our foreign friends. Hopefully it will be a little help for you all !! 1- Get Registered ! Do you remember the Important notice on the back side of the ARRIVAL CARD you filled while you arrived in China? Do you register in any local Policy Station or Policy Security Bureau (PSB)? The First Notice is: Aliens who do not lodge at hotels, guesthouses or inns shall, within 24 hours (72 hours in rural areas) of entry, go through accomodation registration at local police station. Many foreign friends told me that they did not do that because it seems no regularly checking about that even they stay a long time in China before. But, pls do it NOW! If you go to register in local Policy Station or Policy Security Bureau (PSB), you will get a registered or residence paper, which may help you with your China visa in the future! An true story to share: A Moroccan friend in Beijing, who went to Hong Kong to get China visa for a couple of times before but when he did that again last month in Hong Kong, he was told he could only get L visa 15 days. He contacted many people but could not help him get a longer visa. When he was very upset and almost ready to go back to Morocca, he asked a Chinese friend to call PSB Beijing for the last try. Because he has the residence paper the police gave him when he registered when he came back to Beijing from Hong Kong a few days ago, he was told with some financial proof from his Chinese bank account, he can extend his visa in Beijing for another 30 days, no need to suffer other troubles or go to Hong Kong! So, my dear friends, if you have an visa problem now or in a while, pls firstly Get Registered in your local Policy Station or Policy Security Bureau (PSB), meanwhile consult them for your visa status and extension! 2-Be aware of your China visa status and begin to consult about your visa extension or change at least ONE MONTH before it expires! For the foreign friends from some countries, there are services to help them get long term F or L visa muli entry with NO NEED to go to Hong Kong, but the time for process takes at least 20 working days and some days extra for preparing and sending the documentations. If you stay in Shenzhen, it is more convenient for you to go to Hong Kong. But if not, pls be more cautious because the trip is costly with flight tickets and hotel charges and etc.

3-Do not give up your Z visa before you are already sure you can get visa extension or change within valid time. Some foreign friends work in a company or school who got Z visa for them, but they wish to change their jobs, be freelance or travel around China now. So they quit their jobs. But after that, your employer will get your Z visa canceled in a short peroid of time. Some friends only have about 15 days left on their visa and with the new visa policy it causes a lot of troubles for them to successfully get visa extention or change if there is no enough time. 4-If there is little change for you to get visa extension or change in the local Policy Station or Policy Security Bureau (PSB), Try BIG CITIES! Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and etc. There maybe some better chance in Policy Station or Policy Security Bureau (PSB) in big cities! 5-If nothing above works, you may need to consider the trip to Hong Kong. But before you arrange the trip to Hong Kong, you need to CONSULT the Professional Visa Agents for your status whether you can get the visa you wish for. When you talk with Professional Visa Agents, offer below information will make it more efficient for you: what passport do you hold? where are you now? which city in China? what type is your current China visa? When will it expire? what type and how long of visa do you wish to get? Also, take clear pictures of the front page of your passport and your China visa in last two years. It is easier and more efficient to just send clear pictures to your visa agent to check for you! The above is just some information I collected these days after the new China visa policy. Any friends get more information or recent experience, always feel free to add it here. Hope it helps !! Ms. Wing

Some updates: 1-the extension in PSB in Beijing may be avaiable for some foreign friends. they require a notification paper from the bank says how much money you have (the ammount is required by PSB) 2-the extension in Shanghai is available for some foreign friends, but heard you can only get one extension there, then you have to find other visa options. 3-port visa in Shenzhen may be no longer avaiable nowadays. Any experience about your China visa or questions, pls feel free to share here ~~

MORE UPDATES: As we know the new visa policy was issued in July, but it will take a while to be fully in effect. It is said it will be in fully effect from September 1st, so this month is very sensitive time and many friends are eager to know what they can do to avoid any negative affect on their status. My kind suggestion, if your visa will expire in this month, better to find out what options you have and make a decision to get visa as long as possible! As it is quite sensitive time now, some of the service which is to send the application to the third country to get long term China visa are currently suspended! Such as, L visa or F visa 1 year multi entry 90 day each time or 60 days (with no need to go to Hong Kong). They may work again at the end of this month or beginning of next month. But currently I cannot tell what changes will that be or how many friends will be still available. Any experience about your China visa or questions, pls feel free to share here ~~
