Last year, someone posted in the internet that durian shouldn’t be eaten if you drank beer or coke. This time, another guy claims that people shouldn’t drink milk if they eat durian. Why? You will kill yourself if you drink milk after you eat durian. Is it true? The one who posted the message says Thailand has these rules. Really? A journalist interviews some tourists who have been to Thailand and locals there. None of them know the rules or see the warning. If it is true, durian milkshake should be forbidden in Thailand. What’s wrong with durian? Why do people tell lies?

Most of them are grandma's tales. One thing people do not understand that "stale" durian produces gas that may upset stomach. If you put stale durian in a tight bottle, you could hear the strong pop sound when you unscrew it. Thus it is not advisable to consume such a durian with gaseous drinks. I do not eat durian although my family does. Durians are famous among Chinese, and rich Taiwanese would fly from Taipei to Kuala Lumpur just to taste durians. Thai durian has less durian odour thus most durian lovers would prefer Malaysian durian than Thai durian. There are three most expensive durian species in Malaysia, i) sleeping cat, ii) Musang King, and iii) Turmeric durian (or also aptly known as copper durian). Wan

Cherry, haven't you noticed that the rumor is all about Thai durians? Perhaps, some people plan to make Thai durians notorious and then tourists won't eat durians when they come to Thai.

Thailand has done good favour to durian lovers, as it is the main exporter of durians all over the world. Wan

Jimmyb, Thanks for reminding me. It looks like an agenda.
