What to Bring
EEUREKA | -General- | 1/5/2007 11:18:41 PM

I found that besides clothes, tampons, and deodorant I could find most anything I needed while I was in China. You can get things tailor made if you want, and that is always fun. Just be aware that you may have to get the tailor to make a few changes because they aren't use to westerners body type.

Don't Buy Electronics
EEUREKA | Beijing | 1/5/2007 10:56:53 PM

While I was in Beijing I went to the Silk Market a few times to go shopping. A couple people I was with found "a great deal" on ipods. It said they were 4g. They looked great, and the people that were selling them even turned them on and let us try them out. Well 2 of my friends ended up buying one. When we took them back to our hostle and charged them up we found that they were a complete scam. They only held about 1 CD worth of music and also had problems charging and keeping their battery life. Steer clear of these, especially in the rip-off markets. They most definately will be rip-off.

Master of the Nets
EEUREKA | Suzhou | 1/5/2007 10:49:43 PM

If you decide to go to Suzhou for a visit make sure you stop by the Master of the Nets garden. It is the smallest garden in Suzhou, but is most well known because of its beauty. It was built in the 12th century, then abandoned until it was restored in the 18th century. This garden is one of the most beautiful gardens in all of Suzhou. You can walk through the old house and admire the beautiful architecture and magnificent woodwork. Take a few moments to sit and just enjoy the beautiful garden with its strange and wonderful trees and plants. This can be a very relaxing place to escape to after all the hussle and bussle of the city.

Yu Yuan
EEUREKA | Shanghai | 1/5/2007 10:20:07 PM

You want to enjoy some amazing shopping and be in one of the most beautiful places in Shanghai? Go to the Yu Yuan. It is a shoppers paradise surrounded by beautiful old Chinese buildings, and a magnificent park.
If you go there take some time to just enjoy the people, smells, and sounds all around you. Most times the Yu Yuan is crowded with shoppers from all over. If you want to buy something there you will have no problem finding it. Just make sure you haggle with the price or you will get ripped off big time.
I love this place, I hope you guys do too!

Hostles
EEUREKA | Shanghai | 1/5/2007 10:05:12 PM

While I was traveling around in China I found that the nicest, cheepest, funnest places to stay were the hostles. There are so many opprotunities to meet many different kinds of people. The hostle that I used the most in China was called the International Youth Hostle. They are clean, their staff know English and are extremely helpful, and best of all, you can find them in most any city you are in. Just go to http://www.iyhf.org/ and you can get directions to hostles in the city you will be in, reserve rooms, and check prices. Its great. I highly recomend them.
